Boxing is one of the toughest sports out there. In my opinion boxers are one of the fittest athletes around. All boxers have great physiques and are incredibly fit. While most of us wouldn’t like getting into a ring and getting punched in the face but I am sure we all want to be in the same physical condition as a boxer.
Most of us might not be able to undergo the full training that boxers would undergo but a good part of it would do us a lot of good. Boxers don’t have ridiculously sized arm muscles. They usually work out their core body right from head to toe. That workout coupled along with intense rigorous cardio will get you as fit as ever. The first thing you should do before you start off any exercise routine or workout should be to warm up. Without proper warm-ups you could end up injuring yourself. The basic idea for a warm is to improve your heart rate. Light jogging or skipping is the best way to do that. While skipping you shouldn’t be jumping high. One inch above the ground should be more than sufficient. Ten minutes of this should be sufficient. Endurance runs are usually preferred outdoors but if that is not possible then a smooth 9.65tv treadmill with incline options should do the job.
Once your heart rate is up and running you would need to keep it up with some circuit training. This will strengthen specific muscle groups. Once you are done with circuit training doing sets of pushups, sit-ups about 30 seconds apart. Once you’ve done that you would need to keep those muscles contracted by doing some serious core body exercises. Using medicine balls are an excellent way to improving your core body muscles. Each part of the body which you are exercising must be done with short intervals so that the muscles stay in a contracted state. Once you are done with the core body exercises it is time to throw in some punches. Using 16 oz boxing gloves does help a bit if you haven’t done weight training. This should improve your speed as well as balance. In between breaks while throwing punches you could do pushups as well as jumping jacks to increase the intensity. Now it is time for you to learn certain techniques in boxing but since we aren’t interested in the sport you could skip it.
So get yourself in shape and training for boxing.
