I bought this for my husband for our scuba diving trip. Unlike other shammies, this towel is soft. The traditional shammies used by swimmers and divers are made of a somewhat stiff material (especially when the shammy is dried out) which require they be kept moist. When a typical shammy is totally dried out for too long, it cracks and disintegrates. This shammy, however, can be completely dried. It retains it's soft, fabric surface and still absorbs. My husband even threw this towel in the dryer accidentally, and it came out fine. Had he done that to a traditional shammy, it would have been ruined. The towel performed well on the dive boat and while I shivered in a terry towel, he was fine wiping the splashes off. I did not give the towel 5 stars for one reason: its a little small. Overall, I highly recommend this towel.

the size is just right to dry you off effectively, and the material really soaks up quickly. It's a nice shade of blue that wasn't like other people's towels at the gym, so I didn't feel like I was going to get it mixed up. Definitely was a good buy for the money! I took it with me into the sauna to sit on after swimming and it dried out pretty quickly, as well as catching water from my trunks. I was even able to take it out into the rest of the gym to wipe down weight machines after I used them. It's very versatile and if you only needed one towel for school or travel, this would be a good one.

I bought this towel to use after my shower at the gym and I have been very happy with it. It is small in size, but that's what I wanted...something that would fit easily into my bag. If you are looking for a towel to "wrap up" in, this will not work for you. If you just need to dry off and would like to save space in your gym bag, this is perfect!
