Burn the Floor with Asics Tigers

As a track and cross country runner in high school, I have always enjoyed Asics shoes because they offer a great balance between being light-weight, but also offering a lot of support and cushioning. Asics Tigers (also known as "Onitsuka Tigers"), in particular are great for jogging, distance running, and sprints. Asics Onitsuka Tigers come in different varieties, from casual sneakers to serious running shoes, but the one thing that unifies them is their unique retro look, that harkens back to athletic shoes of the past. Asics Tigers feature the iconic Asics swoosh, and come in retro colors and styles, that make them a fashion statement, in addition to being great to run in. A Short History of Asics Tigers

Asics shoes are some of my favorite brand of running shoes, with their lightweight yet cushioned design, and I've written about the Asics Tiger line of shoes before in the past. Today, I just wanted to do a quick post on the history of Asics Tigers, and how the shoes got their name. Asics was started back in 1969, almost exactly 60 years ago, by a Japanese man by the name of Kihachiro Onitsuka. The original name of the company was not Asics, but rather "Onitsuka Co., Ltd" (named after the founder). Originally, they started by manufacturing shoes basketball shoes, but soon expanded into other lines of sports shoes as well. Their main manufacturer of Onitsuka Co was Tiger Rubber Company located in Kobe, Japan, and in 1957 Tiger Rubber Company was reorganized into Onitsuka Co, Ltd, from which point the company came to be known as "Onitsuka Tiger Ltd". Running With Puma Complete Magnetists

I used to run cross country and track in high school, and when it comes to running shoes, I tend to prefer Asics shoes, but Puma Complete Magnetists come close. Like most Asics, Puma's line of Complete Magnetist shoes are very lightweight shoes that are made for running. When you're running long distance, or even just sprinting on the track, you don't want to be weighed down by heavy shoes, and that's definitely not a concern with Puma Complete Magnetists. The shoes are also extremely flexible, so that you won't have to worry about being held back by stiff rubber. The innovative feature of the Puma Complete Magnetist, though, is the offset lacing pattern. Most shoes have the shoe laces that go straight down the middle of the shoe, but with Complete Magnetists the laces are slightly offset to follow more of the natural curve of the foot.
