The first thing you would need to do while using deer feeders for hunting would be to figure out a location. The ideal location for deer feeding should be close to your hunting grounds. There must not have too many deer wandering around the area where you are installing a deer feeder. It is usually better to install deer feeders where deer’s are comfortable. Installing them close to your home may not be the best of idea as domestic animals could scare them away. While installing the deer feeder you should also consider the other kinds of animals around.

Your feeder must also be protected from the rain and leaves. Keeping it hidden might also help in keeping the deer comfortable. Having a water supply nearby would go a great way in attracting deer towards the deer feeder. You could create a water trough or dig a small pond. If you can find a stream or creek nearby it would be ideal to place the deer feeder right next to it. This way when the deer comes to drink water it would spot the feeder. Usually most people use deer feeders during winters when food is scarce for the deer. There are many deer feeders available based on capacity. A 200 lb capacity deer feeder should be good enough for the seasoned hunter. The deer feeder should be capable of at least 4 feeds a day.
