When running, this watch wouldn't detect my heart rate most of the time. I sent it back for a refund.

takes a little while sometimes to get your heart rate - but i love that there is no extra chest strap - all you need is the watch : )

This watch is pretty nice. It's easy to learn and has a lot of very functional features. I use it when I'm at the gym, and the heart rate monitor function is very, very accurate. I've tested it several times against the machines, and it really works out well. Some people mentioned that they have to slow down before taking a heart rate -- I haven't found that to be the case (at least, not 100% of the time). There have only been two occasions where, for some reason, I couldn't get a read. Other times I've checked, I can get a read within five seconds. It's great when you're doing something like circuit training and not using machines. Now for the things I don't like. It says it has a calorie counter, which is true. It's a counter in the sense that you have to enter everything against a goal. It's not that useful for me, as I'm more interested in the calories burned working out. For now, I have to calculate that myself, which is a hassle. For this reason, I'm considering springing for an upgraded Mio, since I know their heart rate reads are very accurate, so that I can keep better track of this. The face is a little imposing, and some women with small wrists might not like it. I have a medium wrist, but the band seems a little small, still. All in all, for what you get, good value.
