The next thing you would need is a shirt. Shirts with sleeves must cover the shoulders and should provide comfort and allow freedom of movement in the shoulder and back areas. Loose clothing should be avoided while cycling as it could get caught in the bicycle’s moving parts or the seat. Since cycling has become a popular sport, specialized cycling jerseys are available which will keep you comfortable. They also offer padding to protect you from a fall.

Cycling shorts are the next thing you should be looking at. Bike shorts fall into two distinct types, Lycra body hugging race shorts or the baggy beach mountain biker style. The race shorts are tight and they have special elastic bands around the leg that will keep the shorts from riding up. For comfort padded shorts will keep you from having a sour butt at the end of a long cycling session.

The last thing you would need is a pair of shoes. For a casual cycler running shoes should suffice. A serious athlete would want to invest in a pair of cycling shoes. These shoes have stiff soles and cleats which will provide efficiency to the athlete’s pedal stroke. The shoes fit comfortably without binding or restricting circulation.
