How to Store your Ski Equipment for the summer
The negative aspect to owning your own ski gear lays in the responsibility of taking care of it. In short, you will only ski as well as your equipment is maintained. During the off season your ski equipment should be kept in a cool dry location. Your boots and skis can be greatly affected by humidity and heat; keeping your ski equipment indoors is ideal. You will want to remove those fancy Scarpa boot liners and let them air dry thoroughly. Set them in the sun for an afternoon if possible.
Boot exteriors should be cleaned with a mild detergent and dried overnight. Once washed and dried, the ski boot's liners can then be placed back in the boots and stored away from heat, direct sunlight and moisture. Skis should also be cleaned thoroughly before storage from dirt and snow mold. Make sure to have your skis tuned and waxed at a ski shop before storage. Note that you might have to have your skis tuned several times a season, depending on how much you ski.
Make sure that there is a thin coating of wax coats the sides of your skis steel edges to prevent rust. When storing skis note that they are best stored spaced out from one another so that moisture won’t amass between the skis.
