When shopping for an elliptical, I was a little skeptical with the price point on this machine. Buying through Amazon though, I felt like if it was horrible I could return it and so took the risk. I'm completely happy with this machine. There is no difference between the quality of workout with this than any gym machine. It's solid, and feels really well built. I can't really stress how well this compares to the $4000 machines at the gym. Well, except for that I find the resistance somewhat higher than the gym machines, but level 1 is still easy enough to use. I did have a little trouble to begin with - nothing bad enough to drop even one star though. It does take a bit of time to put together but it was fairly simple and the instructions were very easy to follow. IMPORTANT: 1. Buy some white lithium grease before you assemble it. This is the lubricant recommended by Schwinn. I had a lot of squeaking problems and this fixed everything. I don't think the pre-lubricated parts are adequately lubed. Just fix this while you put it together. Hit all eight pivot points. 2. Do NOT over-tighten any of the screws or bolts. It will cause squeaking. The troubleshooting guide says you can have these up to three rotations from completely tight without compromising performance. I found loosening only half a turn was enough. That's it! It's a great machine.

I purchased this while my treadmill was dead. (loose belt, two weeks out of commision) WHile my repair guy was there I asked him for a suggestion for an elliptical. Who better to ask, right? Well he suggested the Schwinn 431 and I ordered the same day. The price was perfect. Can't beat the free shipping and the guy who delivered was awesome. (may be a one time shot but he even helped me bring the box upstairs.) The box is 180 pounds so that was a huge help. Assembly- slow but easy. It probably took me 2 hours to assemble but that was because I was reading and rereading diagram/instructions to make sure I understood bolt, lock nut, nut, etc..... I only had one bolt that was difficult to insert. Took about 15 minutes of jiggling but it finally caught onto the thread. It's a sturdy machine, nothing jiggles, nothing loose. Use- it's great...a good workout forward and reverse. Very quiet. fits perfectly in the corner area of my bedroom. Relatively easy to move onthe carpet in front of the tv. Great product.

After our daughter bought the Schwinn Model 431 Elliptical, my wife and decided we really like it. A solid machine for the money and with 2-3 hours work, not difficult to assemble. Recommend not overtightening the bolts since this caused ours to "squeak". When I backed the bolts off just a bit, it is very quiet. Both my wife and I work out on ellipticals at the gym and this Schwinn has been a great addition to our workout routines. Definitely recommend this machine.
