OK - So I'm researching about buying this bike rack. I just happen to own an Audi A4 Wagon and the picture on the listing here at Amazon and other sites actually show the rack mounted to an A4 wagon. But when you look at the installation directions for the rack it says that you shouldn't use the rack on an A4 wagon because there's no safe place to secure the top straps. What??????

We ordered this rack to carry two adult Trek bikes and a youth mountian bike. First, there's almost no way to carry three bikes on this rack without incurring damage to the bike frames or spokes. Once could possibly partially diassemble the bikes and accomodate three bikes but that sort of defeats the purpose. Secondly, this is not a stable unit. Loaded with three bikes the rack tends to pull away from the vehicle (Toyota SUV) even with the straps conced tightly enough to flex the rack's frame. Even more troubling is the fact that the arms of the rack are secured with only two cheap spring-loaded pins which hold them into a plastic housing. On our rack, it was possible with just a little effort to jiggle and torque the arms enough to dislodge the pins. On the road that would result in the loss of all the bikes. This is a poor design ... save yourself the effort of a return.

This bike rack is wonderful! Far better than expected. We had originally purchased an inferior brand and after installing, uninstalled and returned to the store for a credit. We began to research racks and read customer reviews and the Thule was the best by far. We purchased a 3 bike rack although we have only two bikes and we absolutely love it! It is sturdy and secure and the bikes ride beautifully on it. We live near Glacier National Park and bike in the park several times a week. Mounting the bikes on the rack is simple as is strapping them down securely. It is a solid rack!
